Having won best school at this year’s STEMtacular, 6th Class had a fantastic day at the University of Limerick’s Science Department, where they enjoyed a hands-on introduction to the world of chemistry. The children took part in a range of interactive experiments, including colour-changing CO₂ reactions, exploring pH indicators, and discovering the science behind everyday materials. They were guided throughout the workshops by university staff, who helped bring the experiments to life.
One of the highlights of the visit was using liquid nitrogen to make their own ice cream, a fascinating demonstration of science in action. It was a wonderful day of learning, discovery, and fun. Who knows, we may even have some budding scientists among us!
